Financial jobs in Zurich are better paid than anywhere else. The salaries there have suffered from the financial crisis less, says a study. The wages in this region have suffered from the crisis relatively little. Within the German part of Switzerland but there are significant wage differences: In general , wages in Zurich, and Schaffhausen are far higher than in eastern Switzerland , in Lucerne or in Graubünden.
Whilst industrial companies recruit more staff the banks remain the place to be paid the most. Salary levels in banks and the financial sector is still significantly higher than in industry.
In the Region Basel wages are 15 percent lower on average than Zurich. The main reason is that in Basel - apart from the big pharmaceutical companies and some large banks and insurance companies - 80 % of companies mainly operate locally and are thus correspondingly smaller.
As these companies in this region have started recruit again but these are probably more temporary or part-time jobs, which are transformed in a further recovery in the economy to full-time jobs. While the pharmaceutical industry has survived the crisis largely unscathed , the industrial enterprises in contrast, have done a lot of temporary layoffs and preferred solutions.
The wage study examined the following Switzerland jobs: accountant, accounting clerk , accounts payable clerk , accounts receivable, bookkeeper , reminders and debt collection specialists , payroll accountant , treasurer , industrial controllers , accountants, internal and external auditors , consolidation specialists and financial analysts.
