Tax Engineer - Banking Job in Switzerland

This Swiss international wealth manager and bank is looking to strengthen their team in Tax (with in the Private Banking division) by recruiting a Tax Engineer.

The Tax Engineer will focus mainly upon the German tax law and on behalf of ultra high net worth German nationals. With the increased focus upon offshore taxation and the anticipated increased regulation emerging from Germany this will be a challenging, yet business critical appointment for the private banking department.

The Tax Engineer will focus upon certain areas of expertise – these being:
1. Calculating and undertaking the assessment of all clients’ investments, reporting upon and informing all parties about the tax consequences for investors and the Bank in the areas of tax: Income tax (Germany, Switzerland and other third countries), income withholding taxes on securities, securities transaction tax, the EU Savings Directive, QI (Qualified Intermediary Agreement). While holding, buying and selling of securities and capital market transactions.

2. Testing of factors included in the EU Savings Directive (EUZ) and the Qualified Intermediary (QI) and ability of the banks operation teams to deliver upon the correct processing of securities transactions in connection with EUZ and QI.

3. Assessment of the relevant regulatory environment for private banking (domestic and international) and development of regulatory / compliance instructions and decision.

4. Implementation of bank processes for international Tax- control training in the subject area of taxation and securities investments for front and back office areas.

To be considered for the Tax Engineer position you should have at least two years experience in the tax area in the Legal & Compliance of a bank, preferably a Swiss or German one. You will have a degree in law or business administration (university or college). Finally you will be fluent in German and English.
