This leading global re-insurers is seeking to recruit a Retrocession & Syndication Underwriter to boost the ranks of its Underwriting and Risk team. This Swiss insurance job is based in Zurich.
The organisation which offers a wide range of traditional reinsurance products and related services, which are complemented by insurance-based corporate finance solutions, have a core business involved in risk transfer, risk finance and asset management. The Retro & Syndication team is responsible for hedging companies’ peak exposures. They reduce the highest peaks (which are mainly nat - cat scenarios) by transferring risks to capital- and retro markets to protect against catastrophic claims, to reduce annual earnings volatility, to diversify risk and to obtain additional underwriting capacity. Retro & Syndication department has been instrumental in the development of a wide variety of hedging technologies such as cat bonds, derivatives, sidecar, traditional retrocession and risk swaps.
The Retro & Syndication team is looking for a project and transaction manager to work alongside the other underwriters to improve earnings and risk profile. As the Retrocession & Syndication Underwriter you will be responsible for managing projects and capital markets transactions, retro covers and risk swaps. In this well paid Zurich insurance job it will be your task to support the execution of these transactions from structuring, pricing and submission through to placement and administration. You will be in contact with external re-insurers, investors and brokers and will also be part of interdisciplinary project teams (products, client markets, risk management, finance, and legal).
For serious consideration for the Retrocession & Syndication Underwriter vacancy you should have extensive experience in underwriting (experience in pricing would be advantageous) and a firm interest in nat cat, risk transformation, capital markets; experience would be helpful, but not considered essential. It is expected you will have good project management skills to conclude complex transactions in a timely fashion, strong computer skills (Excel, Access, pivots) and fluency in English.
